A beautiful 15kt yellow gold guard (muff) chain in original condition. Designed as diamond cut trace link chain spaced with small seed pearls with original bolt ring clasp. Circa 1880-1890's.

Guard or muff chains were originally used to hold a ladies pocket watches or a muff/handwarmer, hence their length.  Today they are used as necklaces which can be worn wrapped around the neck multiple times. This lovely example has the the additional sweet little seed pearls making it a very special piece.
